"Metamorphosis" is an abstract landscape painting. It is the centerpiece of the collection The Tree and the Canoe and the culmination of the interpretation of the myth. It is with the Tree that the Canoe is made. In his thesis of the myth, Joël Bonnemaison concludes by interpreting the myth according to Melanesian culture and highlights that man is a tree, that he seeks to anchor himself deeply, to make his roots. The canoe is the group, the road that leads from island to island and that the canoe depends on the men who constitute it. At different scales, whether cultural or family, the strength of the group takes over the individual and the individual merges with the group, like a metamorphosis. Can we then imagine that the tree-man can still continue to solidify his roots by giving his energy to the group?
